Photo Tips

Photos help you sell!

* Our number one tip is Send us photos; any photos are better than none. Don't worry about washing your truck, dirt won't show up in the photos on the Internet. Just pick up any boxes or trash from the floor and take the photos.

* Our number two tip for effective photos is - don't turn your camera sideways for tall shots. If you have ever seen a photo of something like a hammer rack with a large white border on each side, that's why it looks that way. We can better adjust your photo to fit if you don't turn the camera. The best photos are "landscape", not "portrait".

* Our number three tip has to do with the size of the photos. If you know how to do this (don't sweat it if you don't, send us what you can), the best photo size to send us is 400 pixels x 300 pixels. That's a landscape-style photo, wider than it is tall.

What kind of photos work best?

When taking pictures, put yourself in a prospective buyer’s shoes – what would you want to see?

EXTERIOR

* For most tool trucks one or two photos of the exterior are sufficient, and a 3-quarter view seems to work best.
* Take a photo at the front and rear corners so you see a little of the front and the side or the rear and side in the same shot.
* You might want to include additional exterior photos if you have options like a self-closing lift gate or a special extension, aluminum wheels, special graphics, etc.
* If your truck has some body damage and you are selling your truck “as is”, be sure to show it in a photo. You can always indicate in the Sellers Comments section that more photos are available and can be emailed to any prospective buyers.

INTERIOR

Interior photos are also important. The best view to send us is:

* Rront to rear
* Rear to front
* The drivers area (if a step van)
* Detailed shots of the shelves on each side.
* If you have a workstation or drawer stack, try to show this in a photo.

Again, what would you want to see? What would help you make a better buying decision?

ToolTrucks.com will post up to 8 photos for each classified ad, and up to 20 photos for a Premium Ad. If you can’t get them to us at the time you place your ad, you can send them to us later. We will place a notice in your listing that photos are coming soon.

Digital Photos Work Best

If you have a digital camera, just email us your photos, or Upload them on our website. We can accept photos in the jpg, gif, and tif formats (if you’re not sure what you have, send them anyway, our webmaster will figure it out!).

Please include your name and the email address you used when placing the ad along with the photos so we know which classified ad is yours. Digital photos can be emailed to photos@tooltrucks.com .

What if you don’t have a Digital Camera?

You don’t need a digital camera to produce digital photos. Any 35mm camera’s film can be processed onto a CD so you can email photos. Walgreen’s, Riteaid, Wal-Mart, and CVS Drugs are just a few of the stores that can produce a photo CD from your regular camera film. Kodak sells a throwaway camera that provides you with a CD and regular photos as part of the price of the camera.

You can Use Your Scanner too

Another way: take ordinary 35mm photos, scan them into your computer, and then email them to us: photos@tooltrucks.com . Larger photos, such as 4” X 6”, will provide a clearer image.

Mail us your Photos

If you can’t get digital photos and prefer to take photos the conventional way and send them to us, email a request for our mailing address to: photos@tooltrucks.com . We’ll scan them in on our end.

Our best tip is - Please put Photos in your ad!
